Oklahoma City, OK March 2, 2023 – Oklahoma City Police Department believe that there was a work-related argument between the suspect and the victim who was his supervisor.”  “It appears the suspect walked out to the parking lot and retrieved a firearm from his vehicle.  He returned inside the building and shot Smith.  Smith was pronounced deceased at the scene.” read more... 

Smithsburg, MD, June 2022 – “…the suspect arrived for his normal work shift at Columbia Machine on Thursday and worked throughout the day.  Around 2:30 p.m., the suspect exited the factory, retrieved a weapon from his vehicle, and reentered the facility. Situational Awareness Takeaways

  • It is not an overstatement to note that guns are accessible in workers' vehicles in parking lots at every business in this country.  Employers should be aware of the potential for any argument to escalate into threats including armed or assaultive violence, and prepare accordingly by limiting access control, and effective communication to all employees.
